Unique Accommodation: Wine Cask

Published by Journeys and Adventures at 1:00 am under Accommodations, Europe Edit This

Wine Cask HotelStaying in a wine cask is certainly my idea of a unique accommodation choice.  In Stavoren, Holland, visitors to the Hotel de Vrouwe van Stavoren can choose to stay in one of the four old 14,500 liter wine casks from Switzerland located on the property.  Yup, an old wine cask that was actually once used to make wine.  Each wine cask comes with a small sitting room, television, radio, shower and bathroom.

Prices

All prices include breakfast.

   2 people  1 person
 Wine cask with sitting room  €119.50  €89.65
 Wine cask without sitting room  €99.50  €74.65

Wine Cask HotelSpecial packages are also available and can include four-course dinners, picnic lunches, and day trips.  Discounts are also available for staying in the shoulder season.

Reservations

Reservations can be made on-line here.

This is the second post in a series on Unique Accommodations.  Find out more unique hotel choices.

    @fionawong0501–I think I would enjoy it, too! I didn’t realize they even made wine casks that big!

    @Sher–I’m glad you’re enjoying the series–there’s plenty more to come, so keep checking back. There are so many to choose from! I might have to do a second series of Unique Accommodations later…

    @Sheila–I would hope that anyone that stays there at least enjoys a bottle of wine while staying there. You’d have to!

    Pretty cool. And, you wouldn’t even need wine glasses - just inhale :)

    @Romancing Italy–From what I can tell, there aren’t more windows in the wine cask part, but the wine cask part does seem to “connect” with a small building, so I think there are windows there.

    @jodapoet–Exactly!
