A Traveler’s Dream Job in Queensland, Australia

The tourism office in Queensland, Australia is offering every traveler’s dream job—the opportunity to live six months on an island off the Great Barrier Reef…and get paid $150,000. In return, the “island caretaker” is expected to post on a blog about the area, create videos showing the stunning scenery, give media interviews and feed the fish, clean the pool, and collect the mail. I think I could do that.
Applicants are expected to be adventurous, good swimmers, good communicators, and be willing to try new things like snorkeling and scuba diving. Applicants just need to submit a 60 second video that’s “enthusiastic, creative and entertaining.”
It will be a difficult process to be selected…the website has already crashed from an influx of visitors and Anthony Hayes, the Tourism Queensland chief has said “candidates will have to go through a genuine recruitment process.”
