Unique Accommodation: Tree House Hotel

A popular activity in Costa Rica is bird-watching, so why not choose to spend the night like the birds do? In your very own private tree house hotel!
Built by local craftsmen, this unique accommodation is sturdy and safe, large, and fun for the whole family. If you have ever dreamt of living like the Swiss Family Robinson, you can choose this type of unique accommodation and stay in a tree house hotel. Here’s more information on this unique hotel:
Accommodations
The tree-houses are two-level with a double bed on the main-level and two single beds in a loft area reached by a rustic ladder (so more appropriate for children). An extra mattress for a third child can be added, but it is a “tight fit.” Each tree house has its own bathroom, air conditioning, coffee maker, and refrigerator.
Location
The Tree Houses Hotel is located in the Northwest area of Costa Rica called La Fortuna, near the popular Arenal Volcano. San Jose, the closest airport, is 2 hours away. The resort will help arrange a guided tour from the airport and also has suggestions on renting a car.
Activities
There are plenty of activities available at this unique hotel for anyone looking for an adventure:
-
trips to the volcano
-
hiking through the rainforest
-
floating down the Peñas Blancas River
-
searching for sloths, lizards, monkeys, and tropical birds
-
white water rafting
-
canyoning
-
ATV riding
According to the website, “We only work direct with fun, safe and enthusiastic tour companies and guides in the La Fortuna/Arenal area” and prices seem reasonable.
Rates
A night in the tree house hotel, with breakfast, is a reasonable $95 for two people; each additional person is $10 (children under 6 are free)—not including tax.
