Our good friends at TripAdvisor have given those of us that think we’re worldly and smart another chance to either support our claims or prove to ourselves that we’re lying.
The 12 levels of Know Your World are set to challenge your knowledge of countries, capital cities, and well-known sights around the world.
I made it to level 6, which I think is pretty good (but I really have no idea); I definitely learned that I don’t know much about Asia or the Pacific! And I’m embarrassed to admit that I selected the wrong country for Kampala, Uganda–somewhere I’ve visited (I was close, though)! My knowledge of Europe definitely saved me…
I’d love to know how the rest of you do, so leave a comment with your score—and which atlas you need to study again!

As the dismal news about the economy continues to overwhelm the media, we all want to do everything we can to save our money and protect ourselves for the future. For many, this means no vacation this year.
But, the economy’s bad news and the idea of keeping to a budget doesn’t mean you have to give up your vacation. In fact, this stressful time might be the best time for a vacation—time with family, time away from the usual stresses of home and work, and time in another culture or new environment can help ease tension, improve moods, and make people more productive.
Trust me, I know it’s tough to make travel a priority, but with the help of some travel tips that will save you money and knowledge of which travel websites are the best for finding good deals, you can have your vacation and stick to your budget.
The Single Frugalton follows “the life and times of a single gal trying to live below her means” and often shares tips on budgeting, money planning, and saving money. She recently shared info about one of her favorite vacation spots, Fredericksburg, Texas with us here at Journeys and Adventures, and I returned the favor by creating a list of some of my favorite money-saving travel websites. Discount travel websites can be the best way to find travel deals and I use the ones suggested in that post every time I travel. Check them out and start planning!

I stumbled upon this site the other night and wanted to share it with anyone who has ever packed for a trip and left something behind or someone who is packing for the first time and don’t want to forget something.
It’s the Universal Packing List and is helpful for anyone preparing for an upcoming trip. The tool asks for various information (expected high temperature, what type of accommodation you’re staying in, and how you’re getting there), then creates a packing list for you based on your answers. Important documents, hygiene items, clothing, and other items are all included on the list.
You’ll also get a reminder list of things to do before you go (take care of the pets, recharge batteries, turn down your heaters) and specialized lists for your unique needs—reminders to bring solution if you’re a contact lens wearer and cooking equipment if you’re camping.
So, bookmark this advice on packing for a trip and let this tool make your travel preparation simple and stress-free.
